More than a tutoring business, we are a company responsive to the diverse needs of students.

Our Founder

Dr. Pam Bagworth, owner and Principal, after working as an English teacher for over 20 years and exam marker, knew first-hand the struggles students experienced in accessing quality revision material and support to maximise their exam performance.

She believed students needed intensive, targeted programs with outstanding teachers, to enable students to increase their results and boost their exam performance.

Family

During their student days, Megan and David Bagworth, children of Dr. Bagworth, attended many of the courses their mum ran. They realised the difference that having this quality support made to their final Year 12 results.

Move through to today, and Megan and David have joined the business as Managing Directors, alongside Pam as Principal, Gordon as Business Manager and David's wife Claudia as Teacher Co-ordinator.

Company milestones include the 2013 merger of two highly respected WA companies, Academic Task Force and Academic Associates, continuing as brands under the Academic Group organisation. In 2016 we grew with the addition of The Exam Experts, offering residential programs in Western Australia. These businesses now all work within the Academic Group family. Creelman Exam Questions are another important division. In 2023, Academic Group purchased Progressive Home Tutors, as a stand-alone business providing individual tutor support to students.

Recognition and Awards

🏆 Beazley Medal Recipients

Students going on to higher study in Western Australia must complete the Western Australia Certificate of Education (WACE). In 2023 an Academic Group student received the Beazley Medal, achieving the highest WACE score for the year. This 2023 award adds to having also had students receive the medal in 2016 and 2010.

🏅 Family Business Association Legacy Award 2023

In 2023 Academic Group received the Family Business Association Legacy Award, in recognition of the growth of the business and tradition of excellence achieved in the succession to the next generation. It is an award that recognises the contribution of the Bagworth family, serving the education sector in Western Australia, for the last 36 years. The award also acknowledges the wonderful staff who go above and beyond to make sure a quality service is achieved.

Dr. Bagworth realised that the traditional tutoring approach was ineffective in meeting this need. She knew what students needed was intensive, targeted programs to increase their results and boost their exam performance.

Since starting in 1986, Academic Group has helped over 150,000 students and worked with many schools to enable students to achieve academic success. We have grown by continually evolving to meet the educational needs of students and because of the excellent results that our students achieve.

Present

Today, we are driven with the same passion that helped form the company in its early years. We offer the greatest range of services with programs and courses that are designed to help students succeed in their academic pursuits. From Holiday Revision Programs, Tuition Classes or Master Classes to our wide range of Revision Texts, Study Guides and Exam Questions, students can choose programs, courses and study resources that fit their needs.

Not only can these modules be purchased as complete subjects (i.e. Chemistry ATAR Year 12 Discover), but also as smaller 'Topics' and even 'Syllabus Checkpoints' for complete convenience, targeted support and for every budget.

You will have access to Digital copies of our complete range of Book Publications and all students who undertake one of our face-to-face courses, will be able to access their material online as well as in the classroom.
